Traffic police have admitted refusing to chase two motorbike thieves because they were riding without helmets. Inspector Martin O’Connor, from Greater Manchester Police, said: ‘In situations like this, officers need to consider the safety of all road users before deciding whether or not it would be appropriate to begin a pursuit.’ MCN Jan 2007
I bet the safety of “all road users” was in the mind of the toe rags that stole the bikes too. The moral to the story is – if you’re going to steal a bike; leave your helmet at home. Ed
