Hard Luggage - Krauser Starlet (25 litre) panniers with frame and rack.

panniers

I have had these kicking around in my garage for a number of years and I have just worked out that I can't rig up a fitting kit for my current TDM 850 mk 2. I'd planned to bolt them onto my previous XS 650 but never got round to doing that before it was sold (only had the XS for 15 years....).

For 20 year old panniers they are, I think, in pretty good nick (they are German after all). Locks work on the cases and on the locks to the frame. On one of the cases one catch to close the lid is broken so it has to be manually closed (this is not a big issue). Other than that everything works (original 2 keys included). I've checked that all the nuts and bolts are not seized – although any buyer will probably choose to replace the nuts/bolts where possible – those not possible to replace may need some attention with Kurust or similar. Metal mounting brackets in a variety of states of corrosion are also included – and a 1.5 meter steel bar of appropriate dimensions to fabricate further brackets if needed. These panniers were previously bolted onto my XJ 550 and CBX 750.

The reason they won't fit my TDM is that the rear plastic body work curves out - so to mount them the panniers would make my bike the width of an HGV (almost).

How much? Does £60 seem too steep, with £10 of that going towards the Air Ambulance? Hard luggage costs a lot these days. Appreciate that this doesn't come with a bespoke fitting kit for …... anything (other than an XJ 550 and a CBX 750). So if you are interested you may want to pop up to Alton and see whether they would fit your bike.
