“The Adelaide International Weekend 16~18 July 2010” takes you to County
Antrim in Northern Ireland and County Meath in the Republic of Ireland (ROI).
We’ve put together this weekend guide so that you get the most out of your visit.
One of the weekend attractions is the “Adelaide International Kells Road Races”
in County Meath — it’s the No.1 road racing event in the Republic of Ireland
which Adelaide have sponsored for the past two years. However, if road racing is
not your thing, we’ve some other exciting options.
Another attraction – the “Kells to Kells Ride-out” from Kells in County Antrim,
Northern Ireland to Kells County Meath, ROI. The idea for the 115 miles ride-out
came about when Sam Geddis, Director of Adelaide who lives in Kells, County
Antrim, saw an opportunity to raise money for charity and also promote crossborder
and community relations.
This ride-out has gone on to make Irish history as riders were escorted the full
distance by the police forces from both sides of the border for the first time!
Given the success of the second ride-out in 2009, it looks set to become a
regular calendar event. The event organisers, the Quay Vipers Motorcycle Club
have been encouraged by: the residents of Kells County Antrim, Ballymena
Council, Kells Town Council in County Meath and the “Adelaide International Kells
Road Races” committee — to continue and make the event bigger and better,
encouraging people from the British Isles to take part!
