SOLENT ADVANCED MOTORCYCLISTS 

If you enjoy motorcycling, would quite like to meet others riders, would like to improve your riding skills and live in Hampshire, then SAM could be just the club for you.

We are a 275 strong biking group that is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists. Now that may sound a bit `Stuffy`, but we assure you that we aren’t.

Every Sunday throughout the year we have a Group Ride or some other Event. On the 1st Sunday, from March until November, we have our `SAM Sundays` at Sarisbury Green with Observed rides and Free Assessed Rides for members of the public.

The 2nd Tuesday of each month is our Club Night at Sarisbury Green Community Centre with Speakers, tea, coffee and a bar. All are welcome.

Continental trips and weekends away are often arranged by members. We cater for everyone, whether you ride a sports bike, a tourer, a scooter, a trike or even a Classic, you will be welcomed at SAM.  We have members aged from 17 to 70 who ride Blades, BMW’s, Harley’s and Ducati’s.  We have some 30 or so lady riders and many pillion passengers who just join in for the fun of it.

We do expect every member to improve their riding skills and to take the IAM Advanced Test. Upon joining you will be allocated to one of our Qualified Observers who will guide you through to your test.

Meanwhile of course you can join in with all the other activities of the Club. You can join us by contacting our membership secretary or by purchasing a `Skills for Life Package` from the IAM. This includes, IAM membership for 1 year, SAM club joining and membership fee together with a copy of our full colour quarterly newsletter `Making Progress`, a book entitled, `How to be an Advanced Motorcyclists`, all the Observed Runs that you will require to get you to standard to pass the Test and the fee for the IAM Test (that is conducted by a  Class 1 Police motorcyclist).  We do request a contribution towards your Observers motorcycle expenses for each Observed Run.
